We just returned from a trip to Costo in Seattle where we found they have Flora Springs Chardonnay 2005 in stock.   This is one of our favorite summer time wines.   

It's available at Costco for $20.99 a bottle.   It won't be there for long.   Wine Spectator has rated this a 92 "Best Buy".

Lock Your Car Doors

I was just out walking my dog (actually, he walks me) when a neighbor informed me that his daughters car was broken into last week.  The car was parked on the 4500 block of Beach Drive.    The vandals took a big plain box (there was a car seat inside, the theives would not have known this) and sunglasses.    The daughter assumes they might have got in by a slightly opened window in the vehicle.

Do we have any block watch captains?  This would be good information to add to the neighborhood list.   If so, please contact me.   

West Seattle Nursery

When I was driving down California Avenue, I noticed that West Seattle Nursery is having a Spring Open House this Saturday from 1:00 - 3:00.    I know I have a lot of dead plants thanks to Old Man Winter and my black thumb!    Just thought you might like to know...

Check out Chuck's comments on his recent experience at Beato.    I wish I could figure out how to have the Comment Section on Beach Drive Blog show at least a "teaser" portion...if anyone out there is an expert with Typepad blogs (the platform that I'm using for BDB), please let me know.    Since we currently don't have teaser comments...I'll give you a little tease from Chuck's review:

The Comment Section is on the left, just under where you can subscribe to email updates from BDB.   

If you click on the link that has the title the post, it will take you to that post and  you can read the commentary from readers.   And by the way, blogs love to have comments so, as Bob says, don't be bashful!

Bob is in search of new writers for the Beach Drive Blog.   He says it's very simple to write for a blog.  Here are few tips from our friend, Bob on blogging:

1) It's really no different than writing an email to your friend or neighbor. 

2) The post does not have to be long.   

3) You can add links to other information that is relevant to your message...or not!

4) Beach Drive Blog can either set you up as a guest author (which is very simple to do).   Just ask!

5) Or you can just submit your message or article directly. 

6) Photos are optional.   You can email it with your article and I will enter it in your post.

7)  Check out the categories (above left) for some possible ideas of what to write.

Here are some quick ideas for a post on Beach Drive Blog:

• Garden tips
• Community events
• Upcoming garage or yard sales
• School events
• Block watch/crime reporting
• History of Beach Drive or homes along Beach Drive

Art at Joe's

In a previous post, I mentioned that at Endolyne Joe's has an art exhibit featuring mask created by Explorer West students.   

The mask are for sale.    I bought this one (photo below).   Titled, Slip Knot.

Public Safety Newsletter from Seattle Police Department

Published on March 2, 2007, here is a link to read the two page Safety Newsletter.   It is packed with very important information about safety.

Here are some facts, trends and security tips on home burglaries from the newsletter:

• Burglaries most often occur between 11:00 a.m.  - 4:00 p.m.  when most people are at work.
• Burglaries when the home is occupied, are rare.   The thieves do not want to encounter anyone.    They want to get in and get out with your goods.
• Common points of entry include open/unlocked bathroom or kitchen windows and unlocked doors.    Ground level or basement windows and back/side doors are also popular.
• Do not open your doors to strangers.   When someone comes to the door, answer the door without opening it even if you are expecting someone.    Notify your neighbors if you suspect someone strange is going door to door (this is a good reason to get our "neighborhood list" complete).
